The piecing is about as intricate as the applique in this project file.
My favourite for today is the first one but they ate both interesting designs.

The colours used in this series reflects the colours of autumn in central Australia. So far summer has been hot and humid, but after a few days of hot, we are having a couple of days of autumn, no rain over most of the country, but cool breezes and partly cloudy.
My favourite today is the first one, though the second one is rather interesting.

Some times less is more.
Make that OFTEN less is more … especially when it comes to allowing space for quilting to shine.
Love the quilting space again, but also love the centre panel.

Interesting design, I like it!
Some quilting, but not a lot, but it would be enough to hold the layers together using some well bonded modern waddings.

I like the first design above …
… but the second design is my favourite.
I love the tangled corners of the borders!

One day I was sick of playing with block designs, so started playing with sashing. the worst thing about this project file is the title, but I am yet to come up with something better.
Then I added some pieces to the blocks to interact with the sashing.
When I can think of a catchy title I have another project file which has been waiting for exposure for a long time with applique sashing.

Minimal colour, but I love the design above.
Love the added quilting, but I would be very tempted to use thread very closely matching the background.
Sadly, the quilt is lost, but here is a lovely story of an historical quilt.

I don’t like piecing blocks, but I like the design for a pieced quilt.
Another interesting pieced design.

Love it!
I particularly love using borders as a big part of the overall design, rather then just a frame to hold a design together.
Love the second one too, even though the outer borders are not identical!

Stunning.
Using white quilting thread is easy when making a real quilt, but saving quilting motifs in Electric Quilt was a challenge, until I saved two copies of the motif, one white thread looks blank, but is ready to use, but I also save them with a coloured thread. The only trick is to remember which colour you have used for the first copy, and always keep them in that order..
I would use this idea with a softer background for me to live with everyday, but might use it for a small project to use in a dull corner ...

I love it., but I love anything in traditional Christmas colours. Perfect size for a queen size bed if the blocks were made 12 inches square.
Love the second design too and the quilting would look great in white thread on the dark red.

I love the stars in the outer row of the fist design, and around the centre.
Love all of the second design, though I would replace the stars with the ones I like from the frist design.

I called this sashing a lot of names while trying to get it to connect nicely during design, most frequently it was “that Twisted Sashing”, though a few other words crept in from time to time!
I like both variations of the sashing, but I think the first one needs more work, while the second one is workable as it is.

Love it!
Pointy pieced blocks are not my favourite design feature, but add a few curves, and some applique inspired quilting motifs, and an applique border and I love it!
I like the second design, including the pieced borders. I guess the quilting motifs help!
read moreIt's been a good week. I wrapped up two more quilt tops and dropped the number of open-ended projects down to three! Yessss.... That means I can start some new ones now without any guilt whatsoever!
A little bit moody with the gray-text backgrounds |
Lots of room for background fillers, though the quilted border shown would be in a thread to match the applique colour.
Minimal applique, but with the added quilting I think it would have maximum effect.
